Jurisdiction exercised simultaneously by more than one court over the same subject mater and within the same territory, the litigant having initial discretion of choosing the court that will adjudicate the matter b. Jurisdiction shared by two or more states over the physical boundaries (especially rivers or other bodies of water) between them. – Also termed coordinate jurisdiction; overlapping jurisdiction
